Jurnalul National published an article yesterday about Green Building and the Build Green CEE conference.  We will extend the registration discount until Monday so those who just learned of the conference can benefit.

The article is in Romanian and discusses the market opportunities for green building and the purpose of the conference.

We now have 170 registered and are expecting 200 persons including media.

Sinziana Frangeti of EcoNavitas will provide a presentation on the valuation, financing, and life cycle benefits of green buildings.

Minister Borbély of the Ministry of Development, Public Works, and Housing will not be attending as an opening speaker as we had previously indicated. We are pleased to be joined by State Secretary Horia Irimia of the ministry to provide opening comments.

Sebastian Gutiu of Schoenherr & Associates will discuss improving risk management in Romania and the CEE region by building green.

Please click on “Agenda” at the left of the website www.BuildGreenCEE.com for the latest information.

We moved “Sustainable Urban Design” to the second day to eliminated a crowded session and accommodate a travel scheduling problem.

we heard their time has changed to “around 19:20″…  That’s show biz.

More additions…

We have registrations from many more real estate developers, research institutes, an energy company, attorneys and construction companies.  We’ll also be joined by students and professors who applied for scholarships who have been selected and will be notified today.

In addition to Romania, we will be joined by attendees and speakers from Portugal,  Poland, France,  the United Kingdom, Latvia, Italy, Spain, Luxembourg, Turkey, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Greece, and the United States.  (we’ll offset our travel CO2 by building and renovating the next generation of buildings throughout the region !)

We would like to sincerely thank Philips, Lafarge and Saint-Gobain/Isover for financial contributions that allowed us to extend 30 scholarships to students and professors who applied by explaining 1) why they want to attend the Build Green CEE conference and 2) How they will disseminate the information learned during the presentations.

Their support will certainly extend the impact of our conference for many years to come and is tangible evidence of their commitment to a market transformation towards sustainable development.

We posted earlier on the important work of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development with respect to Energy Efficiency in Buildings.   We are very fortunate to have confirmed as presenters at our  representatives of Sonae Sierra, Philips, and DuPont – all core group members of the WBCSD’s Energy Efficiency in Buildings project.

Ms. Joana Barata Correia of Sonae Sierra will present findings of the Energy Efficiency in Buildings project that identifies important step to removing barriers and encourage greener buildings.

Latest numbers…

As of today, we are at 110 registrations…    We expect the majority of attendee registrations will happen next week.

Book your place by 18 April to receive the discount.

The U.S., U.K. and Canada have one… So do Germany, Brazil, India, the U.A.E and more… Poland and Vietnam are on their way…

SOPOLEC and EcoNavitas will present at the conference an invitation for companies and organizations to join us as founders of a Romanian Green Building Council. As we will discuss the basic steps and qualifications necessary to become an officially recognized chapter of the World Green Building Council, it will be a good opportunity for our friends from surrounding countries to get informed of the process and consider forming additional chapters.
